Why Greater Than Films?

The name “Greater Than Films” derived from the idea that my family had just grown from three to five, and the kids now outnumbered the adults.  Originally I was going to call it “3>2 Films”, but then I arrived on just “Greater Than Films”.  At the time it also added a spiritual element.  However, in hindsight it sounds pretentious.

As for me, I have been in love with filmmaking since my older brother put a camera in my hand at age seven and told me to video him and his friends.  From there, I joined an editing class in middle school.  I was the only one in the class, and I made sure to take advantage of the opportunity.  I initially wanted to act, but after having opportunities behind the camera, I realized how much more fun it was to actually have a hand in telling an entire story.  In high school I directed plays, and then out of high school I shot films at my work as a gymnastics coach.

I made the decision shortly after to attend film school, where I earned a B.S. in Film.  Armed with the knowledge, I produced, wrote, and directed my first project, a teen comedy pilot called “Popular!”  It made its way around the festival circuit where it won awards around the country.  Feeling inspired, I moved to Los Angeles where I started out directing short films and found myself working regularly as an independent cinematographer.

In 2014 I shot, produced, edited, and catered my first family adventure film, “The Magician’s Son”, currently streaming on Tubi.  At the time we just had two newborn twins, so juggling production and parental duties was difficult, but we did it!
